We recommend collecting and storing spring water in glass instead of plastic. It is better for the environment, your body, and the water. Even BPA free plastic has toxic chemicals that can leech into water and cause health issues. It is also important to store spring water in a cool, dark place like a closet.

Help clean up any trash you see.
If the spring isn’t directly on the road, help with trail maintenance by clearing the path, or provide trail direction indicators.
Sometimes springs need maintenance or installation of new collection and piping infrastructure.
If you are inspired, you can also bring gifts to the spring as a thank you for the water you gather. It supports a feeling of reciprocity. You can see when a spring is cherished in a community as often it has flowers or special stones decorating it. Some ideas of offerings are flowers, crystals, rocks, honey, essential oils, or resins like myrrh.
You can also offer gratitude with your voice. Singing or praising the water while you gather is a wonderful way to honor the spring. Please make sure that whatever you offer to the water is of the highest quality. It’s important that the flowers you offer are wild or organic as the ones from the store often contain herbicides and pesticides that can leech into the water.
If there is a better gps coordinate available for a spring please make a note in the comments section of the spring. Once we get another validation we will make the change on the site. If you see a spring that has 2 separate comments for a GPS correction, and hasn’t been updated yet, please let us know in the (Report an error or inappropriate comment) section of the relevant spring.
If someone has listed a spring that is on your private property and you would like it removed from the site, please contact us with proof of land ownership, and we will remove the listing.

Water testing helps assure a spring is safe, however there’s many factors to consider. We need to consider if there’s anything that could potentially contaminate the water table. Some contamination could potentially come from rain, however the earth is a great substrate for filtering and purifying water. Some springs are also primary springs, which means that they are essentially water that has never been on the surface of the planet before.
Be sure to drink as close to the spring head as possible.
The Find A Spring Foundation does not guarantee any springs on our website are safe to drink from or soak in. Please use your own discretion and good judgement.
Hot springs have been appreciated for their healing abilities since before recorded history. A deeper peacefulness is often experienced after cleansing in these sacred pools. Unfortunately, some hot springs have been over commercialized. Some hot springs resorts currently “sterilize” their water, altering its natural form. Our favorite springs are the ones that are secluded, clean, and natural.
Every spring has it’s own unique mineral composition, potential for contamination, flow rate, and ease of access just to name a few variables. Preference is subjective to taste, how far you are willing to travel, and how the water makes you feel overall.
The easiest way is to search our map for springs people have already added. Each spring page will have gps coordinates you can copy and paste into your favorite navigation tool or app for directions. There is no way for us to visit every spring to verify its legitimacy. We depend on the community to do this by posting reviews and leaving comments for each spring. Typically springs with good reviews and positive comments are a great source for water.
