Year round flow on the side of the road via PVC pipe embedded into the side of the hill. Many locals stop daily for a fill up. The water is cold and instantly chills my glass jugs.

As Of October 8th 2024 I went today and filled up a 5 Gallon Glass jug and my HydroFlask. By far the best water I’ve ever had the pleasure of drinking. Kinda hard to spot off the road, look for the big gravel parking lot then There is a Huge white painted arrow on the road pointing directly towards the Spring
We have been using the water for over a year and have never boiled it. We do run it through like a fine mesh filter and pour it into milk jugs now because we use to just pour it out into the coffee pot or a water tank out of our big 6 gallon water jugs, but only like 1 or so gallons at a time and about 6 months ago we started to notice flaky stuff in the water. I got to the bottom of our big 6 gallon jug pouring the last of the water out and found a big dead decomposing salamander. That was pretty gross to think about, but luckily nobody got sick from it. Now we just filter the whole jug into smaller jugs before we start to use it and I have ran my TDS and pH meter on the water a couple of times just out of curiosity, but we trust the water.
Hello everyone! I’ve been collecting water from this spring for 2/3 years and I absolutely love it!! There is simply nothing better than fresh spring water. I really want some updated and current water test results from this spring, has anyone done tests on this spring water in 2022 or 2023? If so, please post the results in a comment, that would be incredibly appreciated by me and everyone else! The last test results I see posted here are from 2017..
For the first time in almost 2 years the water had a slightly cloudy appearance today, as opposed to the typically crystal clear appearance.
To the folks waiting on this testing report, know that of the 4 stores I went to all were out of the full testing kits. I did pick up a kit that did not have pesticide nor bacteria tests. However it tested what appeared to be negative for Iron which removes concern for Iron related bacteria. If you let the water settle and the stuff on the bottom has a fuzzy appearance it has Iron related bacteria. If stuff settles and appears as particulates there’s no Iron related bacteria. So far I’ve seen no sediment at all, but it’s only been a few hours and the tests were conducted soon after the ride so if there’s sediment later I’ll come back and post on it. Other than that you’re on your own until the next round as I’ll be ordering a better test kit for next time. Below are the results of the simple tests I was able to do:
TDS = 40ppm
pH = 6.7
Bacteria Test = Not done
Lead Test = Not done
Pesticide Test = Not done
Nitrate / Nitrite = approx. 0.0 0.1
Nitrite = 0 / Negative
Hardness = approx. 0-10ppm
Chlorine = 0 / Negative
Copper = 0.5ppm
Iron = 0.0 – 0.1ppm
Joeseph, I have been getting my water here for 5 yrs I go every 10-15 days and fill about 20 glass gl jugs and more…the water gets cloudy during and after it rains …I have never detected it cloudy only after a rain,and that is to be expected…so maybe this is what happened to you. And also strong wind can stir things up…never go after a strong
rain, wait for 3-4 days to be sure it will be clear again.
Filled a bunch of glass jars with beautiful clear water, tastes amazing.
The map link above does not take you to the spring, it puts you back/forward about 4 miles on milepost 18, you want to be between milepost 15 and 16. And the gravel area is very large, the spring is across the hwy directly across from the “Adopt-A-Road” sign.
Stopped here today on our way home from the beach. I’ve taken several drives through kings valley this heat and always see someone getting water. It sparked my curiously and my wife and son joined me.
A gentleman was filling up 5 gallon jugs which seemed to be common practice. He was really nice and told me stories of people he had met over his two years of visiting the springs, who had been getting water there for over 20 years.
We filled our hydro flasks and drank away. Some of the most delicious water. We will be back. Lucky for us we call Dallas home.
Lived in the area for about 20 years and just found the spring this week. The water tastes okay, and is cool and clear. This spring water doesn’t taste as good as the sring water on HWY 26 heading to the coast, but it still good.
Does anyone know how many drops of food grade hydrogen peroxide to put in my gallon jugs with the spring water? Tried to find info online and was unsuccessful.
Drinking this water for over two years straight and nothing else after finding the spring. cold clear and sediment always finds its way to the bottom! fill up plastic jugs that are BPA free, or glass is best. Family, friends and loved ones all love this water and drink it with no problem! screw city water!
The coordinates listed were a few miles from where we found the beautiful spring today!

crisp, clear, fresh water easily accessible right on the highway!
Visited this spring on 5/25/24. Definitely tucked away but it is between Mike markers 15 and 16, if you can even find the markers. The directions that are linked here are incorrect, but if you search “Kings Valley Highway Spring” you should be able to find it. https://maps.app.goo.gl/2kvWqMwLvH3a54k47?g_st=ic
Hi Whitneyhm88, Just went to this spring for the first time yesterday! AMAZING! Was wondering if maybe a few folks might want to go in on a test. Im curious, and many others are. I contacted Analytical Laboratory Group, Inc. They said their tests run about $181 dollars. Does anyone else know of a good testing place? Here is their contact info:

Here’s a recent update on this spring! It is between mile marker 15 and 16 heading south on the 223. It will be on the right side of the road, east to miss. Look for the white pipe. To the left, just a small ways down will be a gravel pullout. There is currently no adopt a highway sign across from it. GPS coordinates on here are not correct, takes you three miles away from it further south. Great water, great flow.
Greetings: Is this “Kings Valley Spring” still accessible? I have tried on two different occasions and could not find it, although I did go to the GPS Coordinates.
Has anyone tested this lately, or is that necessary to test on consistent basis. Also I’ve been finding small Flat worm and round with looking things(2 to be exact) is that an indicator of smaller microscopic protozoa on the water or is the constant flow non conducive to those inhabitants. Maybe a fluke?
I visited the spring for the first time today. I saw four other people there while I was there. Google Maps took me right to it. The water is cold and silky. I taste tested it side by side with my home tap water and home filtered tap water. Both of my home waters had a bitter after taste when compared with the spring water.
This spring produces great tasting water. It is right next to the road, there is a large pull off, hard to miss. The pull off is across the street from the spring. Large logging trucks and other cars go very fast on this road, so be careful! Beautiful wooded area around the spring. GPS is incorrect, however, it is exactly between mile marker 16 and 15.
Drinking pure spring water is one of the most important things we can do for our health. Our bodies are over 99% water at the molecular level, so water affects every aspect of our biology. Yet, not all water is created equal. Almost all the bottled spring water available is pasteurized for shelf stability, which neutralizes many of the powerful health benefits such as increased hydrogen, healthy probiotics, and crystalline structure. For more about why unprocessed spring water is the best water to drink, read this.
The best way to guarantee you are getting real unprocessed spring water is to collect it yourself. This is a short and simple guide filled with information about how to gather spring water. We will cover how to find a spring, how to collect the water, how to honor the spring, how to store the water properly and other tips.
FindASpring.org is the best resource for locating a spring near you. However, not all springs are on the map. First, check the map to see if there is a spring in your local area. If there is, look at the reviews and comments. Has anyone shared helpful information about flow rate or posted a water test result? Is the spring in a pristine area? Do a bit of research and make sure the spring is safe to drink from. If you have any doubt about the purity, don’t risk it and get a water test, HERE. If you don’t see a spring on the map in your area, there still might be some that aren’t listed yet. First, ask the older generation who have lived in your area a long time if they know. You can also ask people in your community who might already get spring water such as people at a health food store or at a farmers market. Another great option is to view A US forest service map, where many springs have been marked. You can view these maps through the Gaia GPS or All Trails hiking apps on your phone. The map overlay you want is USGS Topo. Not all are easily accessible or ideal for drinking, but some are and it can be a fun adventure to find them. We have found over half a dozen great springs this way.
Once you’ve found your spring, figure out how you are going to gather the water. Is it right on the side of the road and easy to access or do you have to hike to it? We recommend storing spring water in glass instead of plastic to preserve the purity of the water. It is better for the environment, your body, and the water. Even BPA free plastic has toxic chemicals that can leach into water and cause health issues. If you do want to use plastic for safety reasons when filling at the spring, we recommend transferring the water to glass as soon as possible. FindASpring is sponsored by Alive Waters, which offers beautiful reusable glass. They have a 2.5 gallon option, which is a convenient size for carrying that isn’t too heavy. They also sell handles that you can use to transport the jugs even more easily. If you have to hike to access the spring, we recommend putting the water jugs into an extra large backpack to hike the water out with ease. We use Osprey packs that hold 2 jugs each. You can also use a wheelbarrow or even a stroller depending on how easy a walk it is.

When you get to the spring, remember to first give back before you take. Springs are considered sacred in indigenous cultures around the world for their life giving water and also as a connection to the inner earth. A powerful and simple way to give back is to clean up. Is there any trash that needs to be collected? Could you move any dead leaves or sticks to improve the flow rate? Show up in service. Some other wonderful ways to give is with a moment of expressing verbal gratitude, singing songs to the water, offering the water an ethically sourced crystal, a feather, or some other physical gift. Flowers are a popular and beautiful thing to offer, but please be careful to source organic ones as most flowers from the store are sprayed with pesticides and can be toxic to put near a spring. Also, flowers can attract bugs as they decay, so it can be best to offer them to the flowing water directly or a little downstream from the spring head.
When gathering the water, fill the jug as close to the spring head as possible, never gather downstream. Be very careful as wet glass is extremely slippery. Make sure the lid is securely fastened. When transporting the spring water home, the jugs can sometimes slide around the car. Secure them in place or wrap them with towels or something so they don’t crash into each other.
How you store your spring water is essential. It is not pasteurized like spring water from the store, so it will start growing algae if left in direct sunlight. This is good because it means it’s alive! If the water you drink can’t even support the most basic life forms, how do you think it will support your body? Store your water in a cool, dark place such as a dark corner, pantry or closet. The fridge is ideal if you have room. Some people prefer to filter their water through a Berkey filter before drinking, but if the spring is pure, it’s not necessary. We drink our spring water completely unfiltered.
How long the water stays good for depends on how cold a temperature it’s stored at. Spring water is best fresh. We personally do not prefer to drink spring water past 2 weeks old. However, we know other people that will drink it at a month old. It’s great to get in a rhythm where you know how long the water lasts you and put your collection day on the calendar in advance.
I believe that water is calling us to reconnect with her in the deepest way, to gather our own water. Just like our ancestors did. Our ancestors didn’t have fancy water machines. They also didn’t create villages or settle where there was no water. Water was revered as the center of the community and the nodal point around which life could spiral out and take root.
Here’s to restoring the sacred connection with the waters of life.

A heavy rain is what I meant to say the heavy rains is what makes it cloudy not a light rain.
