Description

It has a plastic spout, pouring out into a creek. It looks like it’s in good condition, not sure if someone is looking after it though. People in the area do drink from it (and me!).

From Mo Rosati: I returned here Nov 12, 09 to get some readings. All indicators tells me this water source is an artesian well also ( though it might be natural instead of man-made like Ancaster Arestian Well ). On the west side I measured TDS 334, pH 7.53, temp 8.4C on the east side I measured TDS 355, pH 7.38, temp 6.9C. Compare this to Ancaster TDS 190, pH 8.14. I took a water sample of Belfountain and it came back ZERO on both Total Coliform & E. Coli, same as the Ancaster source, so they are BOTH very clean ( more info: https://bit.ly/Es26R ). Compare this to TRUE natural spring eg. TDS: 23 Temp: 6.7 C pH: 5.58

  1. I found the spring easily following the directions. Down the hill at the end of the bridge over a creek. On both sides there’re pipes. On the left, easier access beside parking space for two cars.

I’ve run into 3 other people at the spring, drinking from it for a while. Water taste clean to me.

  2. @Heidi … LoL.. I too drove 45 mins to get there only to waste almost a tank of gas trying to find this spring, I didn’t have no luck finding it, was going crazy.. but follow the directions on here above

  3. Hi there, I’m new to town and went to trying find this spring, but I couldn’t for the life of me find it. I don’t know if I’m in the wrong area, or if I’m completely blind. I parked by the guard real and I checked both the north and south side of the water on both the east and west sides of the road and I couldn’t find anything. It seemed very overgrown and muddy. It didn’t look like anyone has been there. Maybe I’m not going far enough? It’s Winston Churchhill N. Of Bush St. Down the little hill by the creek?

  4. Hi, my family and I have been drinking from this spring for a couple years now. I would like to retest it as I have a newborn that I am nursing now and want to just check the levels again, we went and got some water today and noticed that the water was flowing rather strong. Plus the water has many more bubbles then previously. Where do I get a test kit?
    Thanks
    Lindsay

  5. We just went to the spring today and got a jug and glass containers filled. We were wondering if anyone has had the water tested lately?….I see that it was tested by a user in 2009, but the results could be drastically different now. Also, can anyone recommend where I can take a sample for testing, especially for coliform and arsenic? If there are long-term users of this spring, I’d like to hear your comments on your health in relation to this water. Thanks!

  6. Hello – I have tasted the water here and it is amazing! going to make the trip from Mississauga area today, but if anyone is interested in carpooling in the future, I have a large trunk and would be open to gas moeny in exchange 🙂 Take care!!

  7. Hi I am in Guelph and would love to catch a ride with someone that is going up here. I know how to get to Belfountain as I used to live nearby and drove to this neat little place to relax. I don’t have a car at the moment but would really appreciate if I could get some clean water for me and my family. I would help with gas. ivana.poslovno@gmail.com

  8. *UPDATE*
An even easier route for me is Mississauga Rd. all the way up to Bush St., Take a left there, then drive for a few km and take a right on winston churchill, drive north go down the valley right there and make a u turn and park on the west side, follow the little path to the water of life. It purs out of a pipe 24 hrs a day crystal clear and cold as heck! 🙂

  9. Just went up to Belfountain this morning, had trouble finding the place because I forgot to write down the directions…. DOH! But I managed to ask a couple locals and they were more than willing to help me get there. Best way like others have said if your coming from the south take Winston Churchill North follow it all the way up to Bush St. take a left, then the next right continuing on winston churchill, follow the road signs and its just up the road at the bottom of a little valley with a creek running next to it. Water was nice and cold, crystal clear and tasted great. Cant wait to drink some this week and make beer with rest next weekend!

  10. Hey Mo, I appreciate your postings on this site! Glad to have someone in the area dedicated to good spring water, as I am.
I was unaware of the east side flow. Did you get that tested for coliform + E. Coli as well? or just the west side. I had the west side tested about a year ago, turned out negative. Good spring source, a bit too high in minerals for everyday use for me though!

    Cheers! 🙂

  11. Hi Andrea, I returned here Nov 12, 09 to get some readings. 12. I am thinking of going to this spring, because I am currently going to an artisian well and I want to get spring water now. Looks like the comments so far aren't good. Can someone please tell me if it is worth switchig from ancaster springs to belfountain beauty springs? I am new to collecting water and I don't want to get sick or anything. Would really apreciate any kind of feed back. :):):) Andrea Martin

  13. This water source seems to be an artesian flow that originates under the road, pix / vids here: https://bit.ly/1qQ2Yf Everyone collect water from the west side ( left side headed north, 8 Celsius ) , but there is an identical flow directly across the street on the east side ( right side headed north, 7.2 Celsius ), perhaps this side is closer to the source?

    1. Hi Mo,
I was in that area yesterday, looking for the spring.
There is a bridge over a creek in Belfountain and right next the bridge
there is some sort of conservation park that was closed. My guess is
that it may be inside of the park area?
Could you please tell me the exact location of this spring?

  14. I got water from this spring last week and found the TDS too high. After just a couple minutes of boiling there was lots of white film left in the pot. Also visible while boiling.

    1. I have been getting water here for about a month, I also boil what I need for tea or coffee in my french press and no white film at all. Also while I have a good well at home our well is higher in minerals than I prefer. Water from this source is all I use now for drinking. Also there are no golf courses nearby which could contaminate the ground water with toxins that are used to keep the grounds green and weed free, something to think about.

      1. Hi, do you use this water everyday? I mean drinking as well as like washing your face etc? Is it safe for everyday use, also what about the spring water sold in the stores, is it really that bad?

        1. Hey,  yes this water is definitely safe for everyday use.  I’ve been drinking, as well as cooking with it for over a year now, and all is well with me, and my family.

          1. Hi Bluntstar,
I was in that area yesterday, looking for the spring. There is a bridge over a creek in Belfountain and right next the bridge there is some sort of conservation park that was closed. My guess is that it may be inside of the park area?
Could you please tell me the exact location of this spring?

            1. Hello Ursa M.
I think you are looking in the wrong place . The spring talked about here is on Winston CHurchil north of Bush St. . When you’re driving on Winston CH and reach Bush st . you make a Left and than the next right . and you’re back on Winston Churchil.   after that you will be going down hill towards a Creek over the bridge with railings on both side , keep going just  till the metal railings end and there is garbage cans on the right side as well as signs on both sides saying that the water is not tested by the city.  There are springs on both sides . I always make a u turn right away and use the spring on that side going back towards Bush st.  , there’s place to park for 2-3 cars there … you should hear the spring once you get out of the car ,  good luck .. enjoy .

How to Collect Spring Water

Drinking pure spring water is one of the most important things we can do for our health. Our bodies are over 99% water at the molecular level, so water affects every aspect of our biology. Yet, not all water is created equal. Almost all the bottled spring water available is pasteurized for shelf stability, which neutralizes many of the powerful health benefits such as increased hydrogen, healthy probiotics, and crystalline structure. For more about why unprocessed spring water is the best water to drink, read this.

The best way to guarantee you are getting real unprocessed spring water is to collect it yourself. This is a short and simple guide filled with information about how to gather spring water. We will cover how to find a spring, how to collect the water, how to honor the spring, how to store the water properly and other tips.

FindASpring.org is the best resource for locating a spring near you. However, not all springs are on the map. First, check the map to see if there is a spring in your local area. If there is, look at the reviews and comments. Has anyone shared helpful information about flow rate or posted a water test result? Is the spring in a pristine area? Do a bit of research and make sure the spring is safe to drink from. If you have any doubt about the purity, don’t risk it and get a water test, HERE. If you don’t see a spring on the map in your area, there still might be some that aren’t listed yet. First, ask the older generation who have lived in your area a long time if they know. You can also ask people in your community who might already get spring water such as people at a health food store or at a farmers market. Another great option is to view A US forest service map, where many springs have been marked. You can view these maps through the Gaia GPS or All Trails hiking apps on your phone. The map overlay you want is USGS Topo. Not all are easily accessible or ideal for drinking, but some are and it can be a fun adventure to find them. We have found over half a dozen great springs this way.

Once you’ve found your spring, figure out how you are going to gather the water. Is it right on the side of the road and easy to access or do you have to hike to it? We recommend storing spring water in glass instead of plastic to preserve the purity of the water. It is better for the environment, your body, and the water. Even BPA free plastic has toxic chemicals that can leach into water and cause health issues. If you do want to use plastic for safety reasons when filling at the spring, we recommend transferring the water to glass as soon as possible. FindASpring is sponsored by Alive Waters, which offers beautiful reusable glass. They have a 2.5 gallon option, which is a convenient size for carrying that isn’t too heavy. They also sell handles that you can use to transport the jugs even more easily. If you have to hike to access the spring, we recommend putting the water jugs into an extra large backpack to hike the water out with ease. We use Osprey packs that hold 2 jugs each. You can also use a wheelbarrow or even a stroller depending on how easy a walk it is.

Filling 2.5 Gallon Alive Waters Jug

When you get to the spring, remember to first give back before you take. Springs are considered sacred in indigenous cultures around the world for their life giving water and also as a connection to the inner earth. A powerful and simple way to give back is to clean up. Is there any trash that needs to be collected? Could you move any dead leaves or sticks to improve the flow rate? Show up in service. Some other wonderful ways to give is with a moment of expressing verbal gratitude, singing songs to the water, offering the water an ethically sourced crystal, a feather, or some other physical gift. Flowers are a popular and beautiful thing to offer, but please be careful to source organic ones as most flowers from the store are sprayed with pesticides and can be toxic to put near a spring. Also, flowers can attract bugs as they decay, so it can be best to offer them to the flowing water directly or a little downstream from the spring head.

When gathering the water, fill the jug as close to the spring head as possible, never gather downstream. Be very careful as wet glass is extremely slippery. Make sure the lid is securely fastened. When transporting the spring water home, the jugs can sometimes slide around the car. Secure them in place or wrap them with towels or something so they don’t crash into each other.

How you store your spring water is essential. It is not pasteurized like spring water from the store, so it will start growing algae if left in direct sunlight. This is good because it means it’s alive! If the water you drink can’t even support the most basic life forms, how do you think it will support your body? Store your water in a cool, dark place such as a dark corner, pantry or closet. The fridge is ideal if you have room. Some people prefer to filter their water through a Berkey filter before drinking, but if the spring is pure, it’s not necessary. We drink our spring water completely unfiltered.

How long the water stays good for depends on how cold a temperature it’s stored at. Spring water is best fresh. We personally do not prefer to drink spring water past 2 weeks old. However, we know other people that will drink it at a month old. It’s great to get in a rhythm where you know how long the water lasts you and put your collection day on the calendar in advance.

I believe that water is calling us to reconnect with her in the deepest way, to gather our own water. Just like our ancestors did. Our ancestors didn’t have fancy water machines. They also didn’t create villages or settle where there was no water. Water was revered as the center of the community and the nodal point around which life could spiral out and take root.

Here’s to restoring the sacred connection with the waters of life.
